I will start this page with my Great Great Grandfather " WILLIAM ANDREW SHERWOOD" .
WILLIAM WAS BORN 8-21-1823 IN DRYDEN, NY. (TOMPKINS COUNTY). HE MARRIED MARY ELIZA BAKER OF WEST UNION, NY IN STEUBEEN COUNTY ON JAN 1, 1864. (2ND WIFE) THEIR FIRST BORN SON ULYSESS GRANT SHERWOOD WAS BORN ON 12-10-1864.
WILLIAM & MARY ELIZA HAD A FARM ON VORHEES HILL (WHERE INA SHERWOOD CHURCH WAS BORN) IT WAS LATER KNOWN AS THE "SLOCUM FARM" MARY ELIZA WAS A MIDWIFE TO NEIGHBORHOOD WOMEN.

The only child born to Ulysess Grant Sherwood and his wife Eliza (Slocum) Sherwood. TAKEN ABOUT 1902 WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT AGE 11. THE DRESS WAS CREAM COLORED CASHMERE WITH TAFFETA RIBBON BOWS AND STREAMERS. SHE WAS A STUDENT IN ANDOVER GRADE SCHOOL, ANDOVER, NY.

TEACHER WAS THELMA LEWIS (ROGERS) STANDING ON THE MILK CAN RACK, WHICH IS ON THE LASHER LOT (AUNT JEANS LAND). "IT'S PROBABLY UNCLE HERB ADAMS TO HER RIGHT. Adams) mother of Addie (Adams) Church. 3. Mary Eliza Baker Sherwood ( Mrs. William Andrew Sherwood) mother of Ulysess Grant Sherwood who married Eliza Slocum. Lytle Church is the Baby Boy.Beths Uncle Lytle Church. Standing is Eliza Slocum Sherwood (mother of Ina Church Beths Grandmother) and standing beside her is Addie (Adams) Church (mother of Ray Church Beths Grandfather).I hope someone in the family can send me a better copy of this photo to put online also.

This is the "CHRISTIAN TEMPLE CHURCH" in Wellsville, New York.
I spent many a Christmas Candlelight Service here it was tradition for my family to walk home, and light the Christmas Candle at home from the light of the Church which was offered to us at Midnight Service Christmas Eve. We would keep the flame lit all the way home walking through the wind and rain. My Grandmother Ina & Ray were married here on 12-22-1908 in the parsonage behind this big building before it was built. Then my parents Christine & Charles were married here on 12-22-1947. Whats weird is my husband parents Grace & Almon were married here on 12-6-1951. So my husband and I too carried out the tradition of being married on Dec. 22. We just celebrated our 23 Anniversary. I got my first Jr. Bible here after Sunday School.Phil Hollenbeck use to preach here & my mom & her sister Jean use to sing for weddings and in the choir here.

Wed in the Church above my Parents Christine (Church) Edwards & Charles Vernon Edwards. Married on 12-22-1947.She is the daughter of Ray Church & Ina Grace (Sherwood) Church.
We resided in Wellsville, New York on Franklin Street in a house my Grandfather Ray Church helped to build. I remember the pictures of him building the stairs. I do not have a photo of this house yet. I lived here after I was born until age 8 or 9. I remember it was shortly after my grandpa Rays death we stayed with a friend of the family then we moved to an apartment on Main Street up over "Coats Drug Store" Wellsville, NY.
